Edna Sofia Cortez

Edna Sofia Cortez, 99 years of age, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, Colorado surrounded by loved ones. Edna Roybal was born on November 28, 1922, in San Luis, Colorado. She went on to marry the late Steven Cortez, and eleven children were born from this union.

Edna may have been small but had a large presence in her family. She was a fighter; she climbed every mountain God put in front of her. On her down time, she enjoyed playing cards, laughing, singing, dancing and most of all, she loved each one of her children with all the love she had to give. Sunday meals had always been a special occasion for Edna to be with her children.

Edna’s loving memory will continue to be carried on by her surviving children, Tom (Jeannie) Cortez and Carol Cortez, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation for Edna will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Imperial Funeral Home, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005. A rosary will occur Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 414 W. 11th Street, Pueblo, Colorado 81003 with a burial to immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery 1706 Roselawn Rd. Pueblo, CO 81006.
