Edward Sanchez, 89, passed away April 2, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife, Frances “Kika” Sanchez, May 19, 2008; mother, Josephine Gonzales; granddaughter Stephanie Sanchez; grandson Michael Martinez; great-grandson Aiden Martinez; daughter-in-law Rita Sanchez; and brother-in-law Charlie Jaquez. Survived by children, Edward (Nancy) Sanchez, Charlie (Angelina) Sanchez, Patty (Art) Martinez, Richard (Vernal) Sanchez, Gregory Sanchez, and Nancy (Gary) Hill; sister Rosalie Jaquez; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Edward served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a field telephone operator and rifle marksman and served on Guam and Iwo Jima. He was a performing musician and retired from CF&I Steel Corp. Edward was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and St. Francis Xavier Church. Visitation, 3 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Imperial Funeral Home. Services, St. Francis Xavier Church: Rosary Recitation 7p.m. Wed., and Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thursday, with interment and military honors to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
