M. Eileen Jensen was born on April 5, 1932, in Colorado, to Minnie and Lloyd Corliss. From the very beginning, she was surrounded by the love and strength of a family that instilled in her the values she would carry faithfully throughout her life. Faith, resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Eileen graduated from Central High School in 1950 and later followed her calling into the field of nursing, earning her LPN from Pueblo Community College. Eileen attended nursing school with her best friend, Barbara. Her professional journey took her through Mountain Bell, selling Avon, Jess Hunter Ford, Jack Hunter Ford, Alpha Beta Packing Plant (1967-1978), and into nursing, where she found great purpose and fulfillment caring for others.
Eileen lived a life defined by her deep love for Christ. Her faith was her guide through every chapter, through joy and sorrow, love and loss. With that faith, she built a life of strength and steady grace.
She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, taking immense pride and joy in the lives of her daughter, grandchildren, and the generations that followed. Her family was her heart, and she gave her love freely and fully. Whether playing bingo, traveling, tending to her garden-especially her cherished roses, or simply sitting down for a card game, Eileen created beautiful memories in the simplest of moments.
She will be remembered most for her strength, her generosity, her gentle humor, and her kind heart. She was the cornerstone of her family. The one who stood steady through every season of life. Her wisdom was a gift, her love a blessing, and her legacy will forever live on in those who had the joy of knowing her.
Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Minnie and Lloyd Corliss; her husbands, Carl D. Hedges, Wayne Jensen, and Robert James; and her dear son, Karl E. Hedges.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Metzger; grandchildren Jason (Ruth) Baxter, Jered (Cori) Baxter, Joseph Baxter, Jacob Baxter, Candis Stephens (Clayton Honsey), Cody Hankla, and Brianna Hankla-Quintana; and her many great-grandchildren—Rylan, Bastian, Susie, Penny, Harper, Jack, Joe, Daniel, JT, Lilyanna, Leo, Luke, Kela, Gavin, Lindsay, and Ave. She also leaves behind her great-great-grandchildren—Hank, Grayson, Arthur, Hogarth, and Juniper—each of whom brought her immense joy.
Services for Eileen will take place at 12:00p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Imperial Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow services at First United Methodist Church. 310 W 11th St.
