

Esther “Carol” Madeline Perea passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Redwing, CO on Wednesday, September 29. She was born June 25, 1944 to Jose and Aurora (Ortiz) Gonzales in Pueblo, CO.
Carol dedicated her life to caring for others. She was devoted to her family and was loved by all who knew her. She is remembered most for her welcoming nature, great sense of humor and cooking.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband Emanuel Delfino Perea, in-laws Jose “Joe” and Beatrice Cordova, Rudy Perea, Sr. and siblings: Mike Gonzales, Laycher and Maxine Gonzales, Charles and Rita Gonzales, Joe Gonzales, Fred Gonzales, Bernie Gonzales, Rosie and Ernest Garcia, Victoria and Louis Garcia.
Carol is survived by her brother Paul and Alice Gonzales, sister-in-laws Marie Herrera and Nora Perea, children Del Perea, Lisa Vigil, Laura and Phil Figueroa, Anita Perea, Denise Perea and Dorothy Perea; along with 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Chama Cemetery in Huerfano County on Tuesday, October 5. There will be a reception at 12:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 614 Main St., Walsenburg.
