

Frank S. Genova, 89 years old, formerly of Pueblo, passed away on November 14, 2011, in Englewood, Colorado. Frank was born on February 17, 1922, to Joseph and Josephine Genova of Pueblo. He attended Central High School. During this time he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp, and helped to build the San Isabel Reservoir. On December 8, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Marine Corp. He served in the 4th Division of the United States Marine Corp; and fought in the South Pacific, including the battles of Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He returned to Pueblo after the war and began a career at the CF&I, where he retired after 38 years of service. During this time he met the love of his life and married Pauline Taylor. Frank and Pauline were married for over 62 loving years; and had 3 children, Nancy (Glenwood Springs), John (Littleton), and Scott (Littleton). Frank was also the adoptive father to two beloved sons in Martin Shafer and Tim Juarez.
Frank was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a Deacon. He was an active member of the Mariners group. He devoted numerous hours to the youth of the church and the community.
He loved to play baseball, golf, fish and camp. He was a Boy Scout troop leader; and he taught every child in the neighborhood to play baseball, football and basketball. He always greeted everyone and made them feel welcome. He had a passion for baseball, and loved the “Rockies”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings including his sister, Mary Caulkins, and brothers, Charles and Kelly Genova. He is survived by his youngest brother, Joe Genova (Mary Ann) of Pueblo and numerous sister and brother-in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was truly a great man, devoted husband, father and loyal friend. He will be missed.
