Grandma Grace, You were an amazing woman, you always knew how to bring smiles and laughter to the room. Even when you would give me the stare for doing something silly!! You always knew how to make me smile and you always had a huge smile on your face! You always looked so beautiful and elegant. I hope I look as good as you when I'm 101!! I love you so much Grammy.

Gramma, it's been a month since you left us and there is a deep void in our lives, felt by every one of us. You were the axis all of us revolved around. You helped shape all of us by how you led by example. Through the good times and through the tragedies every family goes through, you always carried yourself with dignity and grace. When I feel sadness because you aren't here for me to talk to, I will reach back into my memories for comfort. Thank you for being my Gramma, for all you taught me, and for the love and pride you had for your family. I love you so much, please watch over and protect us and I hope we continue to make you proud of your family, as we live our lives as you would...........with Grace

Those blue eyes of the ocean, I will forever remember. I will remember your smell, the softness of your voice and esp the softness of your hands. 
You had a stage presence about yourself that when you walked into a room everybody stopped and looked. You ARE an angel in heaven as you were here with all of us. I will forever hold our memories close in my heart and never forget you. I love you Gramma ! Now Pep has his sweet angel once again, Johnny and my sweet aunty Geri is at peace too. You are FREE....

These are only a few words that describe my Grammie Grace. I know Grammie wasn't my Mom or Grandma she was my great Grandma that was like my Mom. Whenever I went over there, I said "Hi Grammie" she always knew who I was. She always made me laugh. One time I went over there recently for dinner, we sat down with Nonnie, Papa and Grammie and me, after we got our food she asked "DOESN'T HE EVER QUIT TALKING" and my eyes got huge and we all started laughing even her. About a week later she asked Nonnie and Papa if that kid "Butch" was coming for dinner. Nonnie asked her if she meant Jack and she said yes and started laughing. I will miss you so much and I know I will see you again for eternity and I love you for eternity!!!

Grandma you have taught our family so many things and will be greatly missed by everyone that has ever been lucky enough to know you. I will remember your kindness, work ethic and TOUGHNESS the most. Thanks in advance for always watching over everyone grandma, we love you with all our hearts!

I have so many great memories that I have shared with you.  I am so glad that we were so close and everything you taught me to be like and to do in my lifetime.  I remembering going to church with you as a child and as an adult.  I will never forget the time I swallowed my ring in church and I whispered to you that I had.  Out the door we went.  I don't remember you ever yelling at me for anything.  You were the most caring Grammie anyone could ever have.  I feel so lucky to have you in my life.  I learned how to make potica's when I was a little girl.  You had that little yellow step stool that you put a butcher block board on and I made baby poticas when I was just around four years old.  I used to make them and take them to my Grandma Norton and she loved them. Then I was so lucky as an adult that you and I made potica for a few years.  I treasure the time I spent with you and learning all about you.  I knew I wanted to be just like you but if I am half the person you were I would feel like I was a successful as a person.  I was able to work by your side and learn the importance of work ethics and traditions that I hope we can carry on as a family.  You taught me how to make Spaghetti and meatballs and all the other fixings for Christmas Eve.  I knew I had to have the meatballs seasoned just right and they had to be soft.  Not too soft because they would fall apart but not too hard either. They needed to be just right for your approval.  I also learned how to make Thanksgiving dinners from you.  You and my Mom were the best cooks.  Grammie I am going to miss you so much and I will cherish the time we spent together.  I may not have a lot of pictures of us together but I do have great memories about us and the importance of family traditions.  I am going to need you to be my guardian angel and look after me and help me be strong and keep fighting my depression.  I also need you to be there for my family and watch over them too.  There is not going to be a day that I don't think about you or miss you.  I am happy that you are with Grandpa Mauro and Uncle Johnny.  Now Auntie Geri is with you too.  Please tell them that I love them and I miss them too.  I am going to need your help with my Mom so I can be the strong one and she can depend on me.  I know you will be by my side and guide me in being a good mom, daughter, wife, sister and aunt.  I love you more than you cam imagine and I miss you so much.  I look forward til day we meet again!!!  I love you with all my heart Grammie!

Good Morning

For those of you who don't know me, I am Graces favorite grandchild Kenny.

First I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for being here with us today as we honor my Grandmother Grace Mauro.

If you look up these words in the dictionary---For you younger people that is a book -----like Google---with words------You will find these definitions.

Matriarch- A woman who is the head of a family or tribe----A woman who is powerful within a family.

Dona (Don-ya) which means----The Boss of Bosses---The Head of the Familia.

And finally----

Grace  And these are the descriptive words

Elegance--- Poise--- Class----- Finesse----------To do honor to someone by ones own presence----The free and unmerited favor of God.

All of these definitions describe what Grace Mauro means to his family.

She is our Rock---Our Glue---The anchor that all of our lives are attached to---She has guided this family through all of lifes storms----and believe me---there have been some big storms----and she led by example with dignity, respect and GRACE.----There is that word again-----GRACE.

But do not believe for one second that my grandmother would hesitate in chewing your butt if you did wrong.----As you can see, We have some pretty big men in our family----some tough guys----But NO ONE-----NO ONE-------wants to experience the "GRACE EYE GLARE" and face the wrath of God she would give you if you messed up!!

Grace Nadine Cannon Mauro

She was born on May 24, 1915 and left this life June 26, 2016. She was one of eight children who all have proceeded her. She was very proud of her brothers and sisters. They all shared a deep bond and she loved them all very much.

Grace married Louis "Pep" Mauro in 1931 and they began their life together on the farm in Vineland. Together they raised 5 children, Johnny Mauro who proceeded her, Geri Mauro Casey

(Steve) who also proceeded her, Larry (Linda) Mauro, Carol

Mauro Norton (George),and her "baby" Ronnie (Jennifer)

Mauro. She was also instrumental in raising 12 grandchildren, 20 plus great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren and counting!

Her and my Papa Pep worked very hard to provide for their family, and they did it together. She would rise every morning at 4am, clean her house before anyone else was awake, cook breakfast, then being a devout Catholic, attend daily mass at St Therese in Vineland and return to "START" her day. She would either work in the house or in the field side by side with my Papa. She would stop to cook lunch of course----- and then dinner. She was tireless!!

She has seen so much in her lifetime. She has been through numerous wars, went through the Depression, and survived the Dust Bowl.

She has watched the world grow and change---- From riding in a covered wagon for 24 days across the prairies when her family moved from La Junta, CO to Blanchard, OK before she was 2 yrs old------- Think about that for a minute,------ from traveling in a covered wagon----- to watching a man walk on the moon and watching the Space Shuttle. She has traveled the

world, toured Europe, been all over the United States, but I think the highlight of her life was a trip to the Holy Land with my Mom at the age of 85.

Gramma was widowed suddenly at the age of 48. Shocking as it was, she had to provide for her and Ronnie.---- So she began her potica business.----- With the same grit and determination as always, she successfully made a living do this.------Now, if any of you have ever made potica, you know how hard it is to make a few loaves for the holidays. Gramma Grace would make up to

1000 loaves a year for the holiday season.

Her "record" was 54 loaves in one day and she did this a few times. ------ To me, that is almost unbelievable. --------But not for Grace.

The benefit for me as a child around my Grammas house was the amazing smells pouring out of her kitchen. Watching how perfect she made her poticas, ------- and sneaking a finger into her bowl for a taste. And not just potica, everything she cooked was amazing.

As a child, watching her roll out dough on her huge table, and making handmade spaghetti noodles, cutting each one perfectly with a huge knife. Memories I will forever cherish.

Christmas dinner was always very important to my Gramma, and Christmas dinners in the Mauro house are epic. There are 2 days of preparing food. She did most of it for years before her kids started taking over more of the work. ------ As they are now

getting older, My sister Kathy and l, along with our spouses Chad and Shelley are assuming more of the responsibilities.

The traditional Italian Christmas dinners in the Mauro family will never stop----Because my Gramma instilled the importance

of Traditions are very important to her and to her family-----------And they are very important to me and my

----- To pass on to our own children and grandchildren.

Although Gramma "retired" from the physical part of the preparation, she supervised and taste tested and made sure we stayed on the job and did it correctly. We always had to get her approval. In her later year she sat at a table and we would take her the sauce, the meatballs and the braciolle mix for the famous "Grace taste test".

Gramma Grace was very independent and refused to allow anyone to stay with her up to the age of 99. -------"l like my privacy, I don't want anyone moving in". ---- And don't plan a party or dinner during Bronco season!! She had to watch her Broncos so she wasn't going to go anywhere during a game!!

For the past 2 years, her "KIDS" alternated staying with her as she became more unsteady on her feet. The devotion of her children is inspiring to us all, because they were not about to let Gramma move out of her home. They each took a 24 hour shift every 4 days so Gramma could continue to live in the comfort of her own home. --------That is the definition of total love and respect. --------And giving back to a woman who has given so much.

My dad George teasingly told her a few months ago, -

--- "You

know Mom, you're going to have to go into a nursing home soon"

With the ('Grace Glare" ------She snapped at him "WHY"??

"Because you're going to end up outliving us all and no one's going to be left to take care of you"!!

She just grinned and started laughing at him.

My Gramma Grace grew up very poor. ------ And although she never became rich monetarily, through hard work, dedication, and her deep faith in her Lord, she raised her family successfully-------and she created something------- She created

Grace Mauro's legacy sits before you today.-------- She was very proud of her legacy and I know she is smiling down on each and every one of us today and beaming with pride in her family.

--------Amazing Grace----That's what we all called her. -And amazing is a fitting word with all that she has experienced in her 101 years.

Although our Momma and Gramma is no longer with us

physically, --------- she is always with us in spirit --------- in each and every one of our hearts for eternity.

We as a family------- will continue to display to the world daily--------Of who Grace Mauro was and is---------by each one of us living every day with what she has taught us------To take pride in what you have ------- To take pride and what you do-----To take pride in how you conduct yourself and how you treat others--------- And to do it humbly---------And to do it with dignity--------- And do it with----------- Here's that word

Mom, How and where do I possibly begin to put into words what you have meant  to me,and always will. I am who I am, and what I am, because of all the guidance and love you and Daddy gave me as a child. Although I,as well as our entire family, was robbed of many years we could of had with Daddy, you brought us through the most difficult tragedy of all our lives. I have never understood or will ever know, other then your undying faith in God, how you gathered the strength and sheer determination to rebuilt our lives that was shattered. You were the most loving, woman and mother anyone could wish  to have. I have always tried my best to never disappoint you, but being human, I know I have had too, for that I'm truly sorry. Not once in my life can I ever remember a time when you were not there by my side to teach me, by your actions, words and in the loving way only you could show, of how to be a good person and to always be honest, truthful and caring. You truly were my inspiration, to become only half of the mother you were to me, in raising my own children The impact you had on them and their children is beyond measure, and I thank you for that from the depth of my soul. I can't even begin to imagine how much I am going to miss and long for you until we meet again on the day I leave this earth. I know you Daddy, Johnny and now Geri will be there with your hands out to take me home. I look forward to the day we will be together again! I love you with every fiber of my soul and being. Your faith in God and Jesus has influenced your family and provided all of us with FAITH, HOPE, LOVE and your GRACE!!!   Grace Mauro, my great grandmother, lived by her name. She walked with faith in God. Grammie Grace lived a long, adventurous, blessed life and I am blessed to be involved in a small 15 years of her life.  She lived with covered wagon transportation at 18 months to self-driving cars at 101! Grammie Grace was a hard working woman.  Growing up on the farm picking cotton, helping her husband Louis (Pep) Mauro run a farm, raising five beautiful kids, and baking potica didn't slow her down! With struggles of running a farm, taking care of her family, the Depression, and the Dust Bowl she would work her hardest for her family. Family was everything to Grammie being a daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and so on.  With her busy life of ups and downs, she was the woman that could always put a smile on your face.  I never knew someone who had the most contagious smile unlike Grammie's!  And still at 101 she had all her teeth!
  I will miss you so very much, but I know I will see you again.  I thank God you are no longer suffering. I thank God you are with all your siblings, parents, family and the love of your life after 53 years!
  I will never forget Grammie Grace's selflessness, love for God, and love for her family. I truly want to live my life for her. To work my hardest and never give up, to be kind and generous, to praise God everyday, and to be thankful for the life I live and the family I get to call mine! Nobody today will ever get to experience the life Grace N. Mauro lived.  It reminds me to be thankful for when I'm struggling I know she struggled more and she pulled through. Grammie is a role model to me to never give up, be thankful, pray to God, and love everyone! 
Much love and see you in the big home up above where we will be together for eternity!!

Broncos #1 fan. So happy I got to watch your last game/Superbowl with you.

Amazing Grace. That is everything you were and still are to us. Talon was able to spend 24 wonderful years with you and Natalie 2. Although this may seem like a lot of time, to us it was not enough. However, we know you are in a better place and reunited with so many of your loved ones. We are blessed to have you now for a lifetime as our guardian angel. We know you will be with us every Christmas, family event, and Bronco game. The stories of your amazing achievements, hardships, and love for your family will be passed down to many generations to come. Thank you for the huge impact you have made on our lives. We love you Grammie and one day we will meet again when you welcome us home.

                   LETTERS FROM HEAVEN

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven, here I dwell with God above,
Here there's no tears of sadness, just pure eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and said "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I needed you here badly, you're part of my plan
There's so much we have to do to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you.
And when you retire to your bed, the days chores put to flight,
God and i are close to you...in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years,
Because you're only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain,
Remember there wouldn't be flowers, unless there was some rain.
There are many roads ahead of you, many hills to climb,
But together we can do it, taking one day at a time.
And now I am contented that my life was so worthwhile,
Knowing as i passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the road and I am on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.
And when it is your time to go on,,,from that body to be free,

I love you Grammie with all my heart.  I know that you will

I am so very sorry for your loss. Grace was a lovely caring lady who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met.

I am very sorry for your loss and my heart is filled with sadness.  Grace was one of the sweetest people that I knew and I will always remember her smile.

It has been said that the best people we meet leave a lasting impression that will never fade over time.  I have over the years found a few of those people in my life.  Mother and Dad of course but the person outside of my immediate family who left that impression was my Aunt Grace. A person of remarkable strength who dealt with adversity in her life but would never allow it to defeat her. Sometimes we wish we were more like other people, I wish I was more like Aunt Grace, my Godmother, for she had what only a few in the world have, honesty, integrity, and a love of family that was undeniable.  Rest in peace Auntie, you are missed yesterday, today and tomorrow.
