Harry Lee Meddings

Harry L. Meddings, 81, passed away on June 23, 2015. Born to Jack and Zona Meddings on June 13, 1934, in Pueblo, Colorado, Harry was naturally athletic and loved to dance the Jitterbug. After graduating from Centennial High School in 1952, Harry enlisted in the Marines and served as a Corporal in the Korean War with the 9th Marine Corps Regiment. Upon his return, Harry worked as a brick mason (contributing to notable endeavors such as federal/state prisons, local high schools, community colleges, and various household projects for friends and family members). However, his heavy workload didn’t prevent him from pursuing hobbies such as camping, fishing, woodworking, learning sign language, cheering on his Denver Broncos, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He also made time to visit friends and acquaintances in nursing homes and hospitals throughout Pueblo. Retirement could not slow Harry down and he continued to pursue his hobbies, spend time with family, and visit local hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins and private homes to share the love of Christ with those in need of comfort and encouragement. He was a faithful member of his church, where he was often described as “ornery,” “compassionate,” and “fun.” Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Zona (Horton); his sister, Jacque; his daughter, Kathryn; and his son, Keith. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; his sister, Eunice (Fred) Storm; his children, Kenneth, Karen (Jaime) Peasley, Dianne (Greg) Liptak, Wade (Kendra) Hines, Tracy Hines; his grandchildren, Kaci, Kyle (Ashley), Charissa, Kaylee, Jared, Jessica; and his great-granddaughter, Hadleigh. Viewing will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home. The family also invites you to a celebration of Harry’s life at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Temple Baptist Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or Temple Baptist Church.
