

Hazel “Alice” Hunter passed away on April 23, 2011. She is survived by her daughters Feryl (Brien) Hunter Webster, Janelle (Jody) Swartz; grandchildren Justin Hiza, Levi Hyland, Savannah Hyland and Lauren Swartz. She is also survived by nieces Kathy Vincent, Ardith Schade; great nieces Kelly Levar, Misty Wyant, Heather Polca, Sherry Veres, Shanda Russel and great nephew Rusty Wyant. Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert “Bo” Hunter, daughter Laura Beth Hunter, granddaughter-in-law Kristin Hiza; siblings Grace Schade, Rose Morgan, James Morgan, Frank Morgan; and her parents Jay and Ida Morgan. Alice was born on November 19, 1927 in Big Bow, Kansas. She spent her early childhood in western Kansas until the family relocated to Florence, Colorado in 1937 where they operated the Cottonwood Dairy. She graduated from Florence High School in 1945. In 1946 her parents purchase the Arkansas Valley Ranch and operate a dairy in Boone, Colorado. In 1950 she married Albert “Bo” Hunter and they lived in the Boone Community for 60 years. Alice was a bus driver for School District 70 for 24 years and a member of Jolly Janes Women’s Club for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener who created beautiful flower gardens and wonderful vegetable gardens. Alice loved the outdoors and loved to camp, fish, hike and experience the beauty of nature. She and Bo loved to travel and went to Hawaii, Nova Scotia, New York, Oregon, Washington and states in between. She loved to see new country and make new friends during the years that they traveled with their 5th wheel trailer. Alice was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending as much time as possible with family. She loved to cook, sew and make her surroundings and home as beautiful as possible. In addition to her children, she was mom #2 to numerous people throughout her life. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or Avondale Methodist Church. Viewing Tuesday 5-7 PM, Imperial Funeral Home; funeral service Wednesday 10:00 am First Presbyterian Church, interment to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
