John Beaver, 87, joined his wife of 67 years, and went home to God December 17, 2015. His wife, Georgia, began the journey October 17th of this year. He said his heart was broken after his “Georgie” left before him. They were married August 14, 1948. John and Georgia were residents of Life Care in Pueblo for four years. John was born in Grand Junction, CO, July 19, 1928. He was the oldest of three children, born in the marriage of William Dennis Beaver and Ann Ellen (McGill) Beaver. He moved to Olathe, CO, his senior year, graduating high school in 1946. He attended Western State College. He chose the career of his father, who owned a newspaper in Oklahoma; and worked as a printer in Wisconsin, Texas, Grand Junction and Olathe. He set up his last newspaper in Manzanola, CO. His father retired in Pueblo, the city his son and grandchildren lived. John’s sister, Mary Ann, was also a journeyman printer. John was a dedicated employee of the Pueblo Star Journal and Chieftain. His retirement was brought on by the loss of sight in his right eye. He experienced poor health almost from the time he turned 20. His part Cherokee and Mexican heritage gave him an unusual stamina. He would always say it was “not easy” for him to “stay down.” He was a loving father to four children, Georgiann (Terry), Susan, John Jr. and Michael. He was always religious, observed the Sabbath, and made his family time his priority. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Christian Education. His hobby was “Ham” radio operating. When his sons became “scouting age,” he participated in their scouting events; and became a lifetime Ranger Boy Scout Leader. John attended Parkhill Christian Church until Georgia’s fall in 2011. He kept his Bible studies weekly with visitations from the Jehovah Witnesses. John was the grandfather of five, Kevin (Kristy) Renzelman, Matthew (Veronica) Beaver, Mallory (Justin) Friesen, Christopher (Ashley) Beaver, Kayla Beaver; great-grandfather of six, Wyatt Renzelman, Brad Beaver, Lexi Beaver, Rylie Friesen, Sawyer Friesen and TaJaun Williams. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Life Care Center, 2118 Chatalet Lane.
