John M. Starcevich, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He was born April 14, 1931. John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kathleen (Toot’s) and their three daughters, Joan (Joe) Martinelli, Bernadette (Daniel) Spinuzzi, and Christine Starcevich; grandson, Dr. Daniel J. Spinuzzi; granddaughters, Alyssa (Kevin) Tate and Courtney Mascarenas; great grandchildren, Lillian and William Tate; brother-in-law, Stephen Hiza and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, John Starcevich and Christina (Joe) Bradish; sisters, Olga Mohar and Elsie Medonich; mother and father-in-law, Stephen and Frances Hiza. He worked at the C.F. & I Steel Mill as a pattern maker and the Pueblo County Courthouse as a carpenter before retiring. John was a life member of St. Mary Help of Christian Church and the Elk’s Lodge. He was a Korean War Veteran having served as a combat medic from 1952-1953 with the 3rd Infantry Division and earned three Bronze stars for his heroism on the battlefield. John was an avid fisherman, gardener, and enjoyed woodworking. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. John will be dearly missed by all.
