

Jose B. Montoya, 94, passed away February 5, 2013. He is survived by his children, Linda Martinez, Rebecca (Fernando) Lerma, David (Marsha) Madrid, Diana Garcia, Christina (Ramiro Luis Alaniz) Cabrera, and Gerald (Alan Cohn) Montoya; numerous grandchildren, and 3 generations of great- grandchildren. Jose is also survived by his brothers, Robert and Gabriel Montoya, and sister Alyce Montoya. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Montoya, parents, Epifanio and Maria Montoya, his son-in-law Lawrence R. Garcia, and siblings Amalia, Maggy, Virgil, Max, Tony, Charles and Elma. Jose served in the US Army during WWII, worked as a teacher in New Mexico, retired from the Pueblo Army Depot and owned Montoya’s Westside Liquor Store. He was a loving father and grandfather, was well respected in the Westside community, loved bowling, sightseeing, weekend drives and hunting with his brothers and, nephews and friends. He was also a member of SRDA, the DAV, and American Legion. Viewing will be Friday 5-7 pm at Adrian Comer Funeral Home with funeral service Saturday 11:30 am at Family Worship Center. In lieu of food and flowers, contributions may be made to the DAV through the Funeral Home office.
