She is survived by her husband of 38 years Emmet Hance; son Edward Apodaca; grandchildren Marcos (Raquel) Apodaca; great grandchildren Aliya, Noah, Diego, Jeremiah, Amilianna Apodaca. She’s also survived by her sister Josephine Gonzalez and numerous nieces nephews cousins and other family. Nila was preceded by her parents Marcos and Mary Ortega; siblings Florinda Sisneros, Marcos Ortega Jr, Mela Cordova, Henry Ortega, Leo Ortega, and Gilbert Ortega.
She was a volunteer in the surgery department and Saint Mary Corwin for 11 years. She was very active with the Cathedral of Sacred Heart and Christ the King Catholic Churches where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, sacristan and was on the council for Catholic women as the past president, regional president, and was voted the Woman of the Year in 2016. She was an officer and past president of Sera international. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1954 and worked in retail and bookkeeping before retiring for medical reasons.
Memorial mass will be held at the Cathedral of Sacred Heart Friday December 17, 2021, 9:30am.
