Lauren was the brightest ray of love, life, and joy to everyone she touched. We were high school chums, and no one had the spirit of the Central High School Wildcats more than she.  Lauren only became more beautiful in heart, soul and person as she grew into a wonderful woman, so devoted to her family.  Our love and condolences to Jim, the boys and their families. Dear Family, my mother and Lauren's mother were best friends and therefore we were at their house alot, We always had fun and Lauren had an unforgettable voice and laugh.  Then I found out she worked at Barnes and Noble and I always looked for her when I went in.  I was so shocked to hear of her  passing away, she left a lot of friends.Goodbye Lauren. Lauren, you were like a second mom to me growing up with Chris and Brian and JJ.  I wish I could have spent more time with you as an adult, but I will never forget the great times we had that you were a part of.  Rest in peace.

I have known Aunt Lauren my whole life, ever since i was born. She helped me through hard times, showed me what i should look like when i am a grown woman, and was alwayd there when i needed someone's shoulder to cry on. Ever since i was born into the Ratliff family i quickly realized that she was the glue that held our family together. With her gone, i really don't know what will become of our family. She was the one who staid in touch with all of her high-school friends and class mates, the one who knew our family tree, and the one who knew all of the cooking secrets. All my life i have heard of the stories shared about my family. Grandpa Howard, Grandma Kay, Uncle Gary, my father (Michael), Aunt Lauren, Uncle Pat, Uncle Kevin, and Uncle Greg. The stories i heard were priceless. About how the older kids would always jump over the State Fair fence, and play pranks on the man who took care of the horses, and of the time when one of them set fire to a rug. Some of the stories i found most funny where the ones of Aunt Lauren and my father always doing things and trying to be the one who didn't get punished for it. One of those stories that i hear the most is when my father got a nice bow and arrow, Aunt Lauren and my father must have been arguing but my father shot one of the arrows as high as he could into the air (dumb idea) and it landed right on laurens head... Well it ended up that Lauren played it good and Grandpa Howard believed that my dad had shot her with the arrow, whenever i hear these stories i smile, they remind me of how short of a time we have on this planet but how you can seize every second of it and make it worth while. I will never forget Aunt Lauren, she helped so many people including myself. I will never forget her beautiful blond hair, her wonderful smile, and her glistening blue eyes. I love Aunt Lauren so much and nothing will ever change that. I will always remember her, and know her stories. There is only one good thing that came from Aunt Lauren's death, and that is that she didn't have to suffer anymore, now she is up in Heaven watching over our family with no more pain and agony. She has touched so many people's hearts with all of her love and caring and that mark will never be erased.

Our sincere Condolences to you Jim and your family, as you know Lauren was a one in a million with a personality that never knew a stranger.  Always kind, always friendly, and most of all always genuine.  Whenever you would see her she spoke of you Jim, or her children, or her grand-children.  Some people seek fortune, some people see fame, but with Lauren it was all about people.  She was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend and she will forever live on in our hearts.  Lauren, You, and your Family are in our prayers.

We met Lauren in 1969.  I was newly married and away from home for the first time.  My husband Rick and Jim were both stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.  I was so shy and so lonely until Lauren invited me to a tupperware party, saw that I was lost, and from that point on took me under her wing.  I had someone I could turn to. We had some great times together enjoying backyard barbeques.  Christopher was just a toddler but I remember him so well and Lauren impressed me as being such a great young mother.  After Rick's discharge we went back home to California.  We saw them twice more, once when they came out to California and once when we went back for a family reunion in Kansas and drove for hours just to see Lauren and Jim.  Lauren really saved me by giving me someone to turn to during a difficult time.  We were blessed to know her.  Jim, our prayers are with you.

I have many fond memories of Lauren or as I called her Mama Hund. My favorite memory was when we were both at work one night and I was having a really rough time, I was emotionally tapped out. She asked what I was going to do the next day and didn't even wait to hear an answer before she insisted that I would be meeting her and Jim at their home @ 11:00am. When I got there we hooked up their boat to the back of the truck, loaded up with sub sandwiches and beer, and headed to the Reservoir. We spent the day out there exploring the water, talking, and enjoying each other's company as Jim and I each took turns being dragged along by the boat on an inner tube. I can still remember the delight in Lauren's face as she steered the boat this way and that, trying her best to knock her husband off the tube into the water. I hadn't smiled and laughed that much in such a long time. It was indeed the perfect day!
Lauren always remembered me on birthdays and Christmas and on the just because days. She was always there to listen to me when I needed someone to talk to and when my mother asked her to look after me she took it to heart and always made sure that I wasn't alone on holidays and that I stayed out of trouble.

I know Lauren was a loving presence in my son's (Benjamin Gross) life.  I thank her for that.  I didn't know her, but she must have been a great spirit to gather the hearts of so many people to her.  Many blessings Lauren.

We miss Lauren, it happened so fast it's hard to believe she's gone. She was a fighter and a very good mom and person. We will always remember the good times we had together growing up and the fun we had when the family got together. Rest in peace, you will be missed...

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

Mom isn't physically here with us, but her love and memories will continue to light our lives in some way.

What I remember of Lauren, she was very family oriented.  I did not know her well, only through you at GPO.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Lauren, silence has come to our store since you left. You leave a gap in the hearts of those that you shared your time and thoughts with. All the years we spent together made us a family. You will always be remembered as The Boss. You always kept things going, and you kept us going too! I know how proud you were of your Family, your Sons, your Mister and your grand babies, especially your Girls. When they came in to see you, you became Mama Lauren and nothing would interfere with your time with them.  I hope they know how much you loved them....  Rest in the Peace that only the Good Lord Can give.  Good Lady you are missed...

We will certainly miss Lauren, a one of a kind girl.  Somehow she survived growing up with 5 boys and no sisters, may her spirit be free and memories of her live on.
