Lupe Martinez, 93, passed away December 21, 2011. She is survived by her sons Fred (Madeline) Martinez, Chuck (Colleen) Martinez and Eli (Tracy) Martinez; grandchildren Joseph F. Martinez, Carlotta (Chris) Fendrich, Jamie Ryan (Noriko) Martinez, Joseph Leroy Martinez, Asialene (Monte) Zapata and Hunter Felicia; 4 great grandchildren Tobias and Esme Martinez, Rico and Lashya Zapata; sisters Demi Valdez and Nellie Lopez. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews other family and friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Joseph F. Martinez, her daughter Maria Elena; 10 siblings and her parents Rosario and Isabelita Manzanares. Lupe was a member of the Nocturnal order of Adoration, the Cursillos and the YWCA Penguins. She had a deep love for her family and faith and enjoyed embroidering and dancing. Lupe was a proud “Rosie the Riveter” in the shipyards in San Diego. The family would like to express a special thank you to her caregiver Ernestine Camarillo and the staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice for the wonderful care of Lupe. Viewing Monday 2-6pm Imperial Funeral Home, Rosary Tuesday 10:00am with mass to follow at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
