

Marie H. Stinchcomb, 80, passed away Monday, July 6th, 2015. Marie was born in La Junta, Colorado to Louis and Theresa Conty. She was preceded in death by her husband John Stinchcomb and son David. Marie is survived by her sister, Nancy L. Conty of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and numerous relatives and friends, who will miss her dearly. Marie graduated from La Junta High School, Otero Junior College, and continued on to earn a degree from Colorado State College in Greeley. With her teaching credentials in hand Marie set out to follow her dream of teaching children. Marie retired in 1995 from an honored career of 37 years from Corwin Middle School. Marie’s love of social studies, and her lifelong commitment to her students, won her the prestigious award of “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” in 1990. Following her retirement Marie continued on to support her community by volunteering her time at St. Mary-Corwin gift shop for nine years. She was also actively involved with Holy Family Catholic Church, along with her favorite charitable organization, Compassionate Friends. Marie was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society in Education, and a life member of the National Education Association. Rosary, Monday, July 13th, 6 p.m., and Celebration Mass, Tuesday, July 14th, 11 a.m., both at Holy Family Catholic Church with Inurnment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
