Mary Lou Redfern (Nana) passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Nana was born on December 2nd, 1938 and spent all of her wonderful years spreading love, joy, sarcasm, and sass to any and all around her. A lifelong Puebloan, she was an avid part of her community and worked for a number of years at Seabels’s Gourmet Shop, as she always had an eye for fashion. In her younger years, she was incredibly active and a gifted swimmer. She was a respected member of the Minnequa Club where she and her son, Jeff, took first place in the mother and son swimming relay. She also was a part of her local softball league for a number of years. Later in life, her favorite pastimes included playing card games, golfing, water skiing and spending time with her husband and grandchildren, reading and long walks. In her final years, she adopted her dog, Hapa, whom she grew to love immensely and they spent many days in the garden together.
Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband, Jim Redfern; they would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this upcoming February. Family and friendship were always at the center of everything Mary Lou did. She never missed an opportunity to show up to any sporting event in support of her grandchildren, she was the best at back to school shopping and took part in a number of family vacations over the span of her life as well as an annual trip to Mexico with some of her closest friends.
Mary Lou will be remembered by many as an amazing mother, cherished Nana and loving friend. She is preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Kendrick and she leaves her beloved memory in her children Jeff Redfern, Jennifer Redfern (Romero) and Cindy Redfern, grandchildren; Brady Collier, Cassandra Collier,
Cameron Redfern and Michaela Redfern, and her great granddaughter, Eden Collier; her brothers Mike, Max and Bob McQuitty; along with other close relatives, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made in Mary Lou’s name to Central Christian Church of Pueblo, Colorado.
A private family celebration of life to be held at a later date.
