

Rilda Marie Cook, 91, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away April 23, 2017. Rilda was born on November 27, 1925, in Utopia, Kan., to Charles F. Denner and Nellie F. Cook Denner. Raised on a farm in Greenwood County, Kan. Attended K-12 at Tonovay Rural School, graduating in 1943. Married to Halsey H. Cook in 1947, moving to Pueblo in 1955. She was a homemaker, raising 6 children and, in 1976, entered the work force. Rilda worked as a bookkeeper at various local businesses, including the Colorado Tribune, where she was currently employed as notary. Rilda loved the outdoors, which included tending her vegetable and flower gardens, nature walks, rides through the mountains, traveling with family, and reading. She enjoyed playing piano and guitar at family gatherings, was a 50 year member of the Sweet Adelines (Southern Star Chapter) and sang in the choir at Trinity and Wesley United Methodist churches, where she was also a member. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by sons, Douglas, Jeffrey; sisters, Wildine Denner, Arleta Carter and Julia Seward; and great-granddaughter, Anna Cook. She is survived by brother, David (Pat) Denner; sister, Charlene Town; sons and daughters; Greg (Suzanne) Cook of Canon City, Charles (Mary Lou) Cook of Lamar, Beverly (Douglas) Sparks and Sarah Cook of Pueblo; grandchildren, Toby and Andy Cook, Devon, Amanda (Baker) and Trevor Cook, Douglas and Brad Cook, Molly (Smith), Douglas, Greg and Jeanne Sparks, Tyrel Entz; 17 great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Viewing 5 to 8 p.m. April 28, 2017, Adrian Comer Funeral Home. Funeral Services, 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 85 Stanford. Interment to follow Imperial Gardens.
