Ruth Hall was born Ruth Martin on May 25, 1931 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the union of Leo and Matilda Martin. She was the youngest of three children. In her youth, she was active in competitive roller skating which she passed on to her children. She married the love of her life, Culver “Jack” Hall on March 25, 1950 and spent 40 wonderful years until his passing on May 18, 1990. During her marriage she was blessed with 3 children: Cully, Gail and Marty.
The first 20 years of her married life was spent moving from military base to military base with her family. As well as being a wonderful wife and mother, she was also league secretary of several bowling leagues at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas and Lowry Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado. She was also the president of the Sheppard Air Force Base Little League Auxiliary. While living on McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, she introduced her love of competitive roller skating to her children.
After her husband’s retirement from the service, her family moved to Pueblo where they purchased and operated Skateland Roller Rink on Abriendo Avenue. There she continued to encourage her children to become competitive roller skaters.
Being retired from the service gave her more time to travel, especially to Las Vegas, with her family and friends, to enjoy camping and fishing at Blue Mesa Reservoir, traveling to various regional and national roller skating competitions, enjoying have family and friends gather for festivities from holiday gatherings to barbeques in the back yard, and creating beautiful competitive skating and horseback riding outfits for her children.
She continued to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother until her passing on May 6, 2020. She is survived by her loving children, Cully (Jackie) Hall, Gail (Ron) Knerr, and Marty (Cindy) Hall; grandchildren, Tosha (Ian) Skilling, Cully D (Abby) Hall, Michael (Lindsay) Knerr, Zack Knerr (Lisa Miller), Scott (Jen) Knerr, Matthew (Amanda) Knerr and Jessica Rose Hall; and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside service 2p.m. – Wednesday May 13, 2020. She will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in everlasting peace.
