

Shirley Jodean (Jamnik) Steward, 74, passed away on March 19, 2025. She was born on September 20, 1950, to Albert and Irene (Radakovich) Jamnik in Pueblo, Colorado. She was a 1968 graduate of Pueblo Central High School. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Ashley Scott; brothers, Albert Jamnik and Bill Jamnik; sisters Sharon Ellingboe and Donna Riebschlager; nieces Debbie Oster and Kathy Jamnik; and other relatives and in-laws.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bradley Steward; children, Renee (Jack Cline) Steward, Anne (Troy) Henington, Kristina Steward; grandchildren Christopher (Olivia) Sager, Victorea (Matthew) Grippo, Alexander (Celene) Turnpaugh, Abigail Anderson, Braden Steward, Mia-Jacquline Cline, Nathaniel Clinger and Alivea Steward, great-grandchildren Carter, Aiden and Owen Sager and Violet Grippo, sisters Susan Latka and Betty Aldrich; brother, Warner Jamnik; and numerous other relatives. Shirley was also the adopted parent and grandparent of many foreign exchange students and people within her community. She was loved and admired by all who met and knew her. Her greatest accomplishment was her marriage and her family, both of which she was very dedicated to and she enjoyed investing her time into her children and grandchildren.
Shirley was an accomplished artist, jewelry maker, and student. She painted pottery for Paden City Pottery in Paden City, West Virginia, and later retired from Qwest Telecommunications. Shirley pursued degrees in computer technology, and jewelry making, earning a master’s degree and becoming a certified jeweler after her retirement. She enjoyed collecting antiques and treasure hunting at thrift stores. Shirley also was a model for JC Penny and Montgomery Wards Catalog in the late 1960s. Her interests and hobbies included hiking hunting and fishing with her husband, drawing and painting, and gardening.
Shirley is best known for her kind heart and love for everyone she met. She was active in helping those less fortunate, and an avid supporter of her granddaughter Ashley’s KidsCareToo non-profit. Shirley never encountered a stranger, once someone met her, she befriended them, providing food, clothing, money, to all those in need. She was very humble and never wanted recognition for any of her kind deeds; she was truly an angel on earth. She was a Christian and epitomized the Bible verse Hebrew’s 13:2 “Be ye not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Services will be held on March 27, 2025 at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home in Pueblo, Colorado. The viewing is at 10am with services immediately after from 12pm to 1pm.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home, 329 Goodnight Ave., Pueblo, Colorado 81004, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
