Stanley “Warren” Chambers went to God’s kingdom on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at home on the family ranch at the confluence of the Arkansas and St. Charles rivers that he loved and spent a lifetime tending.
He was born on March 14, 1946 in Pueblo, Colorado to Stanley and Laura Chambers. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol Tomlinson. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley, daughter Amanda (Frankie) Chambers and sons Jeffrey (Jennifer) Chambers and Jason (Katrina) Chambers. His legacy will live on in the grandchildren he adored, Cashley, Mattie, Elise, Kinsley, Weston, and Hannah. He is also survived by siblings Douglas (Judy) Chambers and Patsy (Cecil) Brink and many nieces and nephews.
He was a lifetime rancher and caretaker of the land but his greatest professional achievements were in the kids he molded as an educator and coach over his 33-year career. He taught social studies like it was an exciting adventure novel and coached his players in a way that showed hard work and determination is always a winning combination. He led the Pueblo County Hornets girls’ basketball team to the school’s first ever State Championship in 1981. After earning his master’s degree in computer technology, he spearheaded a revolutionary partnership with IBM to bring computer education and curriculum to campuses across the district.
Committed to service to his community, he was active in the Vineland Methodist Church and particularly enjoyed working at the well-known food booth during the Colorado State Fair. He was an active supporter of 4-H and served on the St. Charles Mesa Water District Board.
Warren’s life centered around his family and ranch. He was generous with the gifts that God has given -- always ready to saddle the horses for a ride, firing up his newest machine for a fun, but often harrowing ride along the river bottom and giving the best hayrides during the annual Harvest Days. The land, his family and our community are all better for his care and love.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 18 at 1:00PM at Vineland United Methodist Church, 1587 36th Ln, Pueblo, CO 81006.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the following: Vineland United Methodist Church, PCHS Alumni Foundation or the Pueblo County 4-H Foundation.
