Born June 8, 1940, in Iowa, Dalton’s family soon moved to Wyoming and later to Colorado. Dalton spent over 40 years with UAP Pueblo / Pueblo Chemical, retiring as an agricultural salesman. He also served on the Avondale Water Board, assisted with the Avondale Veterans Day Parade, and was a proud member of the Elks and Eagles. In his earlier years, Dalton was a mechanic, drove an ambulance, and was part of a search and rescue squad. He also enjoyed playing saxophone in school, attending saddle club with his daughter, and various shooting competitions as well as shooting just for fun.
Always willing to lend a hand, Dalton opened his home to help raise his granddaughters. He supported countless others in ways that rarely made headlines but always made a difference. He believed that if you could help someone, you should—preferably without making a big fuss about it.
Dalton took great joy in life’s simple pleasures: watching old westerns—what he called “true stories”—sharing time in the summer kitchen with friends and good whiskey, watching sports, hunting, and driving the county roads while retelling stories of days gone by. Travel was one of Dalton’s great joys, sharing many adventures alongside his wife.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Imperial Memorial Gardens, 5450 CO-78, Pueblo, Colorado. Those who knew Dalton know he would want stories shared, laughter welcomed, and memories celebrated.
