Rita was born July 25, 1954 in the Beech Hill community to Harold and Katherine Riggins Harwell. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, she loved being outdoors, watching Tennessee Football, and going to Gospel singings. Rita’s greatest pleasure was getting to babysit grandchildren or for them to just come visit. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Katherine Harwell.
Visitation will be held from 12-2pm Sunday February 1, 2026 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral Service to follow at 2pm. Interment will be in Shores Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 53 yrs. Wayne Jones of Goodspring; son Jeremy Jones (Susan) of Minor Hill; daughters Christy Hall (Brian) of Goodspring, Shelley Herston (Jeremy) of Rogersville, AL; grandchildren Preston, Griffin, Gracie, Molly, and Lucy, brother Stanley Harwell (Melanie) of Beech Hill; sisters Doris Alfifi (Steve) of Washington, and Connie Dodge (Arlen) of the Shores community. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive.
