Angela Porter Evans was born in New York on October 21, 1967, to the late Frank Williams and Bettie Ann Freeman. Angie carried that quintessential New York strength and spirit with her throughout her life. She was a woman defined by love, service, and an unwavering heart that never turned away from those in need.
Angela devoted her life to caring for others, beginning her career with the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation. After relocating to Florida, she continued her calling at Punta Gorda Eldercare and later at the Blanchard House Museum. Her compassion, patience, and kindness touched the lives of everyone she cared for. Beyond her professional endeavors, Angela was a steadfast source of help and comfort to her neighbors, always ready to lend a hand. Helping others was not merely a task for Angela; it was the essence of who she was.
In 2005, Angela met the love of her life, Jerome. Together, they shared 25 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their bond exemplified partnership, loyalty, and deep affection.
Angela cherished a special and loving relationship with her nieces and nephews, holding each of them close to her heart. She took great pride in being a steady source of love, guidance, and support in their lives.
Angela also knew how to savor life’s simple pleasures. She loved shopping and had a particular fondness for Juicy Couture, especially her handbags, believing there was a perfect one for every occasion. Her unique sense of style made each accessory a statement of her vibrant personality.
Above all, Angela will be remembered for her generous heart, gentle spirit, and the way she made people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Her presence brought comfort, her smile radiated warmth, and her legacy of compassion and love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Angela was preceded in death by her father, Frank Williams, her grandparents, George McKinley Porter and Rev. Dorothy Eloise Porter. Angela leaves behind her loving husband, Jerome Evans; her stepchildren, Keisha, Jerome Jr., and Jamel; her mother, Bettie Ann Freeman; her siblings, Danielle Porter, Shandora Browning, Betty Ann Porter, Jerald Freeman, and George Freeman; her mother-in-law, Geraldine Evans; sisters-in-law, Marie Evans and Connie Evans; brothers-in-law, Darren Evans, Willie James, and Travis Evans; her two best friends, Tabitha Taylor and Denise Hadley; her godchildren; and a host of beloved aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
