

Larry Ray Farmer, Sr, 81, of North Port, Florida passed away March 3, 2020 at Bayfront Healthcare in Port Charlotte. He was born November 17, 1938 in Cardinal, Kentucky to Taft and Margaret (nee Suggs) Farmer.
He was the 2nd of 5 generations of guitar players, including his father, son, grandson and great grandson, with his only daughter on banjo. He played acoustic guitar. Larry enjoyed bluegrass music and festivals. He worked for and retired from the Sprint Telephone Company. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and nature. After retirement, he and his wife traveled as full time RVers for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife Carol Farmer of North Port, FL; their children, Larry Farmer, Jr; Dorinda Farmer and Bruce Farmer; grandchildren, Mark Townsend, Candice (Chris) Nickles, Lucas Farmer, Craig Farmer and Nikki Whitson; great grandchildren, Dax Farmer, Madison Townsend, Logan Nickles, Derick Nickles, David “Trip” Whitson, III and numerous nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, Taft and Margaret, a brother, Taft Farmer, Jr, Larry’s twin sister, Shirley Campbell and sister Etta Woessner.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday March 7, 2020 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The family will receive friends from 10:00am till the service begins. Burial will follow privately at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, FL.
