It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Nicholas Denver Knowlton, 27, born in Glendale, California on June 5, 1998, passed tragically on November 1, 2025, doing what he loved most – being on the water in his boat. Nicholas attended Good Shepherd Day School, Sallie Jones Middle School, graduated from Charlotte High in 2016 and from FGCU with a business degree in 2020.
Nick filled his passion and love for the water through his own charter boat company, which he proudly named Fish Whistle Charters. Everyone he met became his friend. If you saw him on the water, you saw just a glimpse of the light within him. He always gave freely to others – his time, his help, and his care. He strived daily to leave the harbor a better place than when he found it whether it was cleaning up hurricane debris, helping veterans book trips, or lending a helping hand to other charter captains. His love for the water was unwavering.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Barbara and Augusto Sarmiento Sr. and his paternal step-grandfather Bill Boehme. He is survived by his parents Janette and Phil Knowlton, his loving twin sister, Kristin Knowlton as well as his grandmother Laura Boehme, and many other family members and friends.
For those of you who knew and loved Nick, you know he lived his life to the fullest every day doing what he loved most - fishing in Charlotte Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the cause C.A.S.T for Kids.
