William "Mike" Michael Stacey, age 71, passed away on January 23, 2025, in his home in Arcadia, Florida. Mike was born in 1953 to parents Nocha and William Hoebart Stacey in Williamson, WV. Mike grew up in the foothills of Kentucky, with his sister, Jane, and brother, James, eventually moving to Michigan, where he met his wife, Kathy. After marrying and starting their family together, they settled in the southwest of Florida in the 70s and continued to share and grow both their family, and the love they had for them.
Mike was a craftsman; he spent many years in auto-body shops, and many in his workshed out back, making, and repairing, and creating something new. He devoted his time to his children and grandchildren, and spent many hours fishing, hunting, and smithing tools or firearms for his shared familial hobbies. Each member of the family has a different memory of Mike with some kind of project to get done, usually for the benefit of whoever was watching him work. He was kind, and deeply giving, and quick with a joke. He was a man who gave often and got less often, but he made the most with what he had. He will be dearly missed.
Mike was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, as well as his brother, during his service in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kathy, and his sister, Jane, as well as his two sons, Brian and Eric, and his nephew, David, who he saw as another of his own. Extended surviving family includes their wives, Amanda, Rachel, and Trisha, as well as his many grandchildren; Grant, Jack, Andrew, Raegan, and McKenna, and their cousins, Earl, Karen, Kevin, Rachelle, Matthew, Shelby and nearly countless others. The Stacey family knew no bound by blood, and includes so many all because of Mike.
The family will continue to honor his legacy, imitate his kindness and generosity, and remember him in full faith, and with love in our hearts.
A service in his memory will be held on Feb. 1st, 2025, 2:00pm, at First Baptist Church in Fort Ogden, 6831 SW Senate Street. Arcadia, FL 34269 with refreshments served prior at 12:30pm.
