A lifetime resident of Puyallup passed away peacefully while surrounded by family the evening of October 18th 2016. Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend to many. He had followed in his own father’s footsteps by going to work for Foss Maritime in Tacoma at the age of 18. After 38 years, he decided to come ashore to begin his own mail fulfillment business company with his wife, along with the employment of other family members. 10 years ago he made the decision to retire, relax and enjoy life.
What he really enjoyed doing most was just spending time with family and entertaining with friends. His hobbies included gardening, bowling, going to wineries and watching his grandchildren’s life events. Darrell was most content being at home sitting next to his wife watching their favorite TV shows including the Mariners, Seahawks, Washington Huskies and Golf! He especially enjoyed supporting his community and Puyallup High School Vikings, where he watched his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and musical concerts, or attending local car shows with his son and best friends Bob and Larry.
He is survived by his devoted loving wife of 53 years Marilyn; proud children Erik, Sonja (Jason)Barber; enjoyable grandchildren Caley, Tayler, Camryn and his “little bud” Curtis; along with being blessed with his 2 “equally favorite” sisters Linnea (Neil)Padur and Claire Stevens.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday Oct. 27 beginning at 11am at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup followed immediately with a reception at the Eagles Aerie of Puyallup. Darrell has requested that everyone be comfortable and dress casually. Please no flowers, any donations are to be made to a charity of your own interest or as Darrell would say take your wife to the movies!!
Cheers to Darrell and you all !!
