LaVonne Ann Steele

LaVonne Ann Johnson Steele passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in Puyallup, Monday, February 17, 2015. First daughter born July 31,1935 in Puyallup to Ishmal & Agnes Johnson and a PHS grad, Class of ’53, she started her LPN nursing career at Good Samaritan Hospital. There she met her husband of 53 years, Lee Steele, who proceeded her death in 2011. In addition to raising her three children, Linda (Jim) Burman, Lisa (Amjad) Omar and Mike (Vanessa) Steele, mom went back to school to earn her RN degree and returned to Good Sam in the Rehab department becoming a director for another 21 years. Grandma retired in 1998, but still led an active life traveling and meeting with friends. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren Nadia, Jordan, Samira, Ashley, Tarek, Steven and Danny. She is survived by sister, Nadine (Bill) Morris and brother, Ray (Molly) Johnson, along with several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Friday February 20 from 4 – 8 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup. Funeral services will be held at Powers, 253-845-0536, in Puyallup, Sunday, February 22 at 1:00 pm.
