Mary Rose Hutchinson

Mary Rose Hutchinson, 87, of Orting passed away on February 7, 2017. She was born in Wenatchee, WA, on March 4, 1929, to the late Chris and Irma Smith. She graduated in 1948 from Coulee Dam High School in Coulee Dam, WA. She married the late Stephen Hutchinson on November 6, 1948. Together, Mary and Steve moved from Omak, WA to Orting. During her 61 years as a resident of Orting, Mary worked at Cope’s Pharmacy and as a devoted homemaker. Mary lived in Orting until 2010, when she sold her house and moved to assisted living in Puyallup. For six and a half years, Mary called Meridian Hills her home. Her health declined in 2016, forcing her to move to Warner House, an adult family home in Tacoma, where she would spend the last months of her life. Mary is survived by her sister, Joanne Butts of Orting, WA; two children; Dennis “Pat” Hutchinson and his wife Peggy of Austin, TX; and Michael Hutchinson and his wife Sandy of Federal Way, WA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Carol, Joy, Steven and Shawn. She is preceded in death by her husband Stephen, and her son, also named Stephen. The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13 at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church in Orting, WA. Burial will take place at Orting Cemetery on February 14.
