Millie, 93, a Lakewood resident for 62 years, joined her husband in heaven, on October 2, 2013. She was born July 9, 1920 in Aberdeen, Washington, daughter of pioneer homesteaders, (Malinowski) on the Wishkah River. She attended Weatherwax High School and received her B.A. in Education from Central Washington in 1943, where she met the love of her life, Don.
Millie taught 3rd grade for 25 years in the Clover Park School District where she received the “Teacher of the Year” award. She then helped Don run Pacific Salmon Charters in Ilwaco for 10 years. She dedicated thousands of hours to the Friends of Lakewood Library and volunteered at Lake City Community Church. Millie loved to read, play the piano, play Scrabble and spend time outdoors. But most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family. Warm, witty, and a devoted wife and mother, she was a stellar role model to not only her children but to everyone who met her. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Her husband, Don, children Bruce and JoAnn, and a grandchild preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters Donna Raymond (Ed), Karen Hamilton (Jeff Reinhardsen), Ginny Yockey (Dewayne), Bobby Michener (John), Susie Wiley (Jay), daughter-in-law Lynn Hamilton, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Lakewood Library. Memorial Service: October 19, 12:00 PM @ Lake City Community Church, Lakewood.
