Anne Marie Duval was born in Vialet, Petit Goave, Haiti. She attended Lycee Foster Soulouque School. She immigrated to the United States after completing her studies at Lycee Foster Soulouque. Shortly after arriving in the United States she met her future husband, Jean Claude Jean-Louis. They were soon married and had one child, Maureen Jean-Louis.
Anne Marie had a long career in healthcare as a C.N.A. She enjoyed the patients and loved helping people feel better. The majority of her healthcare career was at Kateri Residence Nursing Home. She divorced and was remarried to Jean Joseph Duval. She then decided that she wanted to provide a different environment to raise her daughter. Anne Marie moved from Manhattan to Queens where she brought a home. It is in this home where she raised her daughter, cared for her grandchildren and where she had countless family gatherings. This is where she spent her last days surrounded by her loving family after losing her fight with her illness.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen Alvarez, her grandchildren Vladimir Edwards, Sadira Alvarez, Kiara Alvarez and Marcus Alvarez. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Karter Johnson, Kaiden Johnson, Chance Alvarez, Cassius Edwards, and Anya Johnson.
She is survived by her siblings, Marietta Auguste, Francique Fremont, Jeanine Sylvain, Carmen Poppotte, Claude Raymond and Yves Deremond.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her two older brothers Robert and Nemours.
Anne Marie Duval will be greatly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will miss her love of dancing, her laugh, her smile and her ability to make everyone feel at home and welcome. Our large family has lost a wonderful woman and heaven has gained an angel. The families thank you very much for joining with us to honor her memory and life.
