My name is Pat I worked with your mom at Goldwater and Henry J Carter and was so sad to see her get sicker it seems like as soon as she retired all she did was having to spend her time going to the doctors.  When we were at work we always talked about going to Guyana and she was going to teach me how to make mango achar and all those Indian dishes I love… I know today is a hard day for her family because today is her birthday but she’s always going to be in your memories and heart and will miss her tremendously just like you will

I remember Aunty Shamo as this beautiful person  ,  funny and full of energy whenever she is around. Her huge smile will captivate anyone heart.  She will be dearly missed. RIP

Mangali and I worked together at both facilities,  Goldwater & Henry J. Carter before we both retired.   I would go and visit her at her home in Astoria. We would sit and eat roti with  curry patatoe and old talk about our past experiences at work.   She even gave me one of her Sari's because she knew I like to wear them when I'm going out somewhere special.  She was always kind to me and we would laugh and have the best time.   When the pandemic started I had to stop my visits.   I miss her very much.   My condolences to the family.   May she rest in peace,  may perpetual light shine on her. 🤐

Uncle Filda, Indra, Desrie, Radesh and Nadia : May fond memories of Aunty Shamo brings you comfort during  this challenging time in your life. My heart and prayers goes out to each of you and hope you can find the strength you need. She will be missed.



I work with Mrs Mangali for over 10 years she was one of the best caregivers all the patients love ❤️ her.She made the best curry chicken and roti.She always talk about her wonderful family she dearly love them,,she was so worried about what’s going to happen to her husband.I said to her no worries it is well everything is going to be all right amen.RIP my friend 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Ms.Cole

Dear Uncle Filda, Indra, Desiree, Nadia, Radesh and rest of the family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Shamo Didi was more of a big sister to me instead of a young aunt due to our age difference. She was full of life, never sat still, and completed tasks in a jiffy – in half of the time it would take us to do. In addition, an entrepreneur which we did not recognize then. She saw a need and took over the small shop her father started in Susannah Village, Guyana, and worked really hard to stock it with goods even if it meant taking daily trips to New Amsterdam. This was not an easy feat to achieve as the basics for daily living were a challenge to obtain then. This endeavor gave her aspiration, an outlet for her energy and the opportunity to be business savvy. She will be missed and not forgotten.

Rest in peace Shamo Didi. Your Mom, Dad and brothers are waiting for you to be back in their bosom once again.

May fond memories of Aunty Shamo bring you comfort during this difficult time. My heart and prayers go out to you. Aunty Shamo always took care of everyone.  I remember in Guyana, if we had a party or religious ceremony, it was Aunty Shamo and uncle Filda to call on when it comes to someone being in charge of the kitchen. They were known as the cooks😊 Aunty Shamo was always there to help out. She was always full of energy and always fun to be around. She will forever be remembered as a kind, fun and loving person.
