Born on September 25, 1943, in Greenpoint, Dominic was the second oldest of seven children of Frank Delia and Anne Ellen Delia (Miloscia). He attended Andrew Jackson High School and later Martin Van Buren High School in Queens, New York.
In 1961, Dom’s deep love for music and his remarkable vocal talent led him and his younger brother Billy to help form the Sparrows Quartette, an acapella rhythm and blues group that brought joy to countless listeners. His voice, full of soul and warmth, became a signature part of his life—and anyone lucky enough to know him will remember both his music and his unmistakable sense of humor.
Dominic served in the Army National Guard and had a long career with the MTA. He continued to live life exactly the way he wanted, well into retirement.
Dominic is survived by his two beloved cats, his brother Frank Delia, Jr. and sister-in-law Regina Delia, his sisters Constance Delia Forshee and Lucia Delia, and his brother-in-law Walter Katynskyj. Dominic is predeceased by his sister Angela Katynskyj (Delia), and brothers William "Billy" Delia and Robert "Bobby" Bruce Delia.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua - St. Alphonsus in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in September. The date will be announced in the coming weeks.
