Iluminada Perez Tabigue was born in Pampanga, Philippines on July 27, 1942. Growing up she was called Lumen by her family and friends. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines with a degree in Nursing. In 1967, Lumen immigrated to the United States to pursue her nursing career. She first settled briefly in Philadelphia before finally making New York her home; where she met her husband of almost 50 years Alberto Tabigue. Together they raised their family in Floral Park, NY.
Iluminada was a long time operating room nurse working at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. She was affectionately known as “Tabby” to her coworkers and the doctors she worked with until her retirement in the early 2000’s.
Iluminada enjoyed shopping, the casino, traveling, and bowling. She is the loving mother of Arlene (Charles) Fuerst and Albert “Aries/Air” (Amalia) Tabigue. She is the honored aunt of Ella (Joseph) Pierpoint. She is also the adored grandmother to Aaron “Silver”, Avery “Tanner”, Asher, Autumn, Hunter “Chip”, Alessandra “Alle”, and Logan. Iluminada now joins her beloved family in heaven...her husband, mother, and sister. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
