Jackson Sheng was born in New York City on September 19, 1993 to parents, Wenling Sheng and Yuchun Sheng. He was raised in Bayside with his older sister, Jennifer. Jackson grew up in the church life meeting with the saints of the Church in New York City in Jamaica, Queens. In middle school, he was saved and baptized.
He attended Peter Stuyvesant High School in New York City where he studied hard and joined the Boys Varsity Ultimate Frisbee team, Sticky Fingers. After much hard work and practice, Jackson became a strong athlete and dedicated team player. He eventually became co-captain of the Sticky Fingers team. In his first leadership role, Jackson managed the team’s finances, organized tournaments & fundraising events, and led the team to win State and City championships.
Jackson received a full scholarship and internship from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.’s Smart Start Program to attend New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He earned a B.S. in May 2015 from Stern majoring in Finance and Information Systems. During his undergrad, Jackson was an active member of the student body participating in the Stern Honors Program, Student Council, Judiciary Committee, and most significantly, Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity (“DSP”).
In his freshman year of college, Jackson joined the Kappa class of DSP as pledge class president, and was later elected Chancellor in his junior year and then ultimately President of the fraternity in his senior year. With DSP, Jackson found his second family with whom he truly worked hard and played hard. He developed strong bonds with the DSP family that helped him grow both professionally and personally. Jackson was an integral part of the fraternity's development and was especially devoted to training and mentoring members of the fraternity.
As part of J.P. Morgan’s Smart Start Program, Jackson interned with the Public Finance and Investment Banking groups throughout college. After graduation, he joined J.P. Morgan’s Public Finance Credit Origination team full time.
Jackson was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in November 2013. Despite this difficult news and multiple relapses, he remained strong and maintained a positive attitude about his outlook. Jackson had a sense of inner peace and believed that everything that happened to him was part of God’s plan. He trusted in God’s will and faced his struggles with grace and courage.
Jackson passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother on April 2, 2017. We love him and miss him dearly.
“God has a purpose on this Earth and I know that somehow and in some way, I was part of this purpose and I put my trust into him.” – Jackson Sheng
