Marie Carmel Montas

Ms. Marie “María” Carmel Montas, 62 Years old, of Springfield Gardens, New York passed away on November 4, 2022 after succumbing to a pulmonary embolism related to her 5-year battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

Marie was born in July of 1960 to Octanus Montas and Anne Marie Donatien in Lascahobas, Haiti. After leaving her country in 1990 to come to the states, Marie earned her certificate as a Medical Assistant Tech in 1994. While only having worked in the field for a short time, Marie later devoted 20 years of service to The Human Resources Administration as a Clerical Assistant (CA III). In August of 2019 she retired from one job to take on the full-time role of being “The best Grandma Ever”, as her grandson puts it.

Marie is survived by her two Children, Michcar Leriche-Chevalier and Michael Leriche,; her mother, Anne Marie Montas and father, Octanus Montas; her siblings, Claudette Thermora & Family, Jean Alix Montas & Family, Emmanuel Montas & Family, Michelle Mirville & Family, Karnes Montas & Family, Onide Montas & Family, Myrtha Montas & Family, Maranatha Thomas & Family, Ronald Jean Montas & Family, Odlince Valcourt & Family, her favorite and only grandson, Manuel Azarius Chevalier.

Visitation in the care of R. Stutzmann & Son will be held on Friday, November 11th.

Funeral Service will be held at New Covenant Baptist Church on Saturday, November 12th
