If you’ve gotten the chance to get to know our family, then you should have an idea of how unique we are. Each of us are so different from each other, but there are a few things that I’m sure we have in common. We’re all just a bunch of guys, we can’t get enough of my mom’s cooking, and we received unconditional love and support from my mother which we may or, most likely, may not have deserved. 

It has been said to me before that I have a strong sense of family in me. And honestly, that is all thanks to my beautiful mother. She showed me what it’s like to be cared for with your whole being, and I can only hope to show even a fraction of what she’s given me. 

I always had this view of our family as my mother being the queen of us and we’re her little warriors. If anything were to happen to her, we would go to arms at whoever/whatever harmed her. However, little did I know that this whole time she was actually our warrior who already fought off everything that could endanger us. And she fought and fought until the very end of her strength, and the amount of strength she had is more than a lot of people could muster up their entire lives. 

So from beyond the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you mom. I wish I could have given you even a quarter of what you’ve given me, but just know that my successes are thanks to you and I swear you’ll be truly proud of me. Please finally get the rest you deserve and have a good time with Lola and Butchok. Always your baby boy Mom, I love you.

It took me a while to compose this, as I always end up crying...

During my growing up years, my impression of Mommy Nancy is that she’s strict and workaholic.

I remember how excited I was to receive a black Liz Claiborne wallet from her as pasalubong, since it was my first of that brand. I would describe it as “wallet na maswerte”!  Up to this time, after so many years, I am still using the same wallet. I always tell my colleagues that I am scared to change it because it is a lucky wallet. As I analyze deeper, Mommy Nancy did not just give me a wallet for something to use, I would like to believe it is the life lesson of handling finances is what she really wants to teach me.

Also, there was a time during my visa interview at the US Embassy in Iraq way back 2010, I was asked, what is the reason why I wanted to visit US, my response? I wanted to visit my Aunt & her family, whom I haven’t seen for almost a decade. Now, recalling those moments, it makes me miss you more, just the thought that on my next trip to US, you will no longer be around.  

I will forever cherish the memories I have with you po, Tita.
It makes my heart full knowing that even on our short time together last April 2019, I was able to do things for you in my small little ways so you would feel comfortable during your stay in Ulango. 

Our family will be forever grateful for the love you have for us! Thank you for everything and we love you so much po! 

You are now together with our LORD Almighty and with our family in heaven!

May you rest in peace, our Mommy Nancy!

Tita, I will always remember how generous you are to our family. All those balikbayan boxes full of clothes, shoes, bags, and toiletries, fun times of our childhood! You would always ask our feet sizes sketched in a piece of paper for accuracy!  We could not thank you enough of all these generosity and love you shared to our family. Thank you for being a mother to all of us. I will forever miss your food for the gods and yummy homecooking! I know you, Mama, Ate Jess, Lola Patty and Lolo Luis are all celebrating life there in heaven! Love you always.. 

Ate Nancy... my heart is full of emotions. I am so grateful my son was able to meet you and your family in NY during what we did not know would be so close to your final days. Although we barely knew each other you repeated to me many times “do not worry Christine. We will take care of your son. We are family”. I thought one day we would meet face to face and I could tell you ... express to you how much your words and actions meant to me and my family. I know you are at peace now and face to face with God. Growing up in Philippines, I remember coming home to a giant balikbayan box in the middle of the living room. We weren't allowed to open it until the most of the cousins came over. On one occasion, there was a cute pink plastic vanity set and numerous Jansport bags in another. I remember throwing a childish tantrum because the box was one bag short and mom felt it was unfair to give me a bag since the box came to our house. Tita Nancy called telling me she was sorry for the miscount and that she would make sure there's one for everybody next time.

Because of this, I've always pictured Tita Nancy as a fairy godmother, far away, but always watching over us. If souls do live on, her watching over and caring for us from far away—with Ate Jessica, Tita Lina and Lola Patty—couldn't be more true.

I remember how excited Tita Nancy was when I got accepted into a nursing program. She messaged me on Facebook right away and offered me words of encouragement and admiration. As someone who felt some shame in having to "restart" my career in my mid-20s, her excitement in my choices was one of the factors that helped kept me pushing.

I hope to embody many of Tita's positive qualities in my career as a nurse. She is critical - always expecting the best. But she is also caring and generous - working in the background to catch and lift you up if you fall. 

It saddens me deeply that I could not be present to honor her in person. Tita Nancy's last message to me was: "You are a great person. I believe in you. You will have more achievements in life. Just enjoy and be happy." I can only continue on with her message engraved in my heart.

The loss of a mother is such a great loss that cant be filled with others. Your mother was a smart, loving and kind lady who always inspired everyone. She has gone to be with the Lord and God will keep her in peace. 

No words can describe  how good person you are. Thanks for all your good advices. You will always be in my thoughts and prayer. I love you so much ate.

Nancy, you will be greatly missed.  I will never forget that every time I see you , you always greet me with your beautiful smile and big hugs. We have something in common ..I hail from Pangasinan and you are half. We speak the same dialect, I believe.  Everytime I am invited to the Pagba and Valenzuela gathering..I would ask  Evelyn " Nasaan  ang luto ni Nancy?" You are an an excellent cook..I love the "Food for the Gods " ..masarap..I bet you will be cooking food for our  God,   the Angels  plus your new barkadas  in heaven. If you are missing some food ingredients  up there, call anyone of us , email or face time. We will send it thru Amazon..that will be cool..
      You are such a beautiful person  with such a beautiful life and beautiful family you can be always proud of! May you rest in peace and have a great time up there!    


You will always be my second BFF in the Quibal clan next to Lola Patty. 

I remember how I used to be so scared of you because I thought you are masungit, but when we met and bonded in one of the family gatherings, all my fears turned to love and admiration. I always look forward whenever you come visit the Philippines, as I really enjoy chatting with you and sharing different stories with you. 

I will miss chatting with you in FB messenger. I will miss your contagious laugh and your beautiful smile. We love you, Ninang Nancy. Nicco and I will always be thankful for all the life and marriage tips that you've shared with us. Thank you for loving us and thank you being our second mother. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Until we meet again.

I have always been in awe of you because you were a Manila girl. I still remember the time you helped me with my high school essay, "What I did last vacation!". I was so proud of it because it was not only well written but the content was so different from my classmates. The experiences that only a Manila girl would know became mine in that essay. I pretended it was my summer vacation experiences, rather than yours! 

It is true, we did not grow up together. We sort of found each other in our own way. It took a long and complicated journey to have our relationship blossomed to a point where we happily and comfortably trust, respect and love each other. I love your inner strength, your dedication, your generosity and your selfless love to your/ our family.  

GO with the LORD and rest now, Ate Nancy.  We will forever celebrate your life and memories!
