

Quincy – John (Jack) M. Dobbie, 92, died August 30, 2014 peacefully at his home.
He was born in Canada, then as a child came to The United States where he was raised and educated in Milton. He was a graduate of Milton High School. He was Office Manager of Quincy Oil Company for over 30 years. Mr. Dobbie was a member of many organizations including being Past Master of the former Atlantic Masonic Lodge A.F.& A. M., member of the Delta Lodge, Rural Lodge, York Rite, Taleb Grotto, Shriners, Past Patron of the former Wollaston Chapter and a member of the Braintree Chapter O.E.S. A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Deware Funeral Home. He was also a devoted member of Christ Church in Quincy.
After retiring he was a volunteer for Beechwood on the Bay and enjoyed boating, gardening, dancing and spending time with family in Kingston.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth S. (Nutting) Dobbie, a loving daughter Sheryl Murphy, four devoted grandchildren, Heather, Douglas, Victoria and Renee and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Matthew all of Quincy.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-8pm at Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock St. Quincy, MA 02170. A funeral will be celebrated at 10am on Friday at Christ Church 12 Quincy Ave. Quincy, MA 02169. Burial will be at Milton Cemetery.
