Beloved father and husband. Mr. Lun Yan Ng was married to the late Kam Har Choi Ng. Devoted father of Betty Wing and husband Dr. Richard Wing, Wilson Eng and wife Karen Eng, Peggy Lee and husband Edmund Lee, Philip Ng and wife Wai Ching Ng, Billie Chan and Sally Ng; beloved grandfather of Eric Eng, Davy Eng, Richard Lee and wife Emmeline Lee, Kenneth Lee and wife Simone Lee, Emily Yuen and husband Alexander Yuen, Nicole Chan and Alexander Chan; loving great grandfather of Hayden Lee, Jarrett Lee, Sabrina Lee, Marcus Yuen and Sydney Yuen.
His grandson remembers him as: Lun Yan Ng marched to his own beat! Full of wisdom and compassion. Those that knew him will remember him for his knack for bargains and his fondness for Home Depot!
His granddaughter remembers him as a person with a lot of qualities. He had a kind heart; he was full of wisdom; he was talented; he was generous; he was funny; he was stubborn; he was ambitious; he was a great cook (that came in handy since he had a huge appetite). He was definitely not selfish. He had said he survived FIVE times already...to make sure that all his loved ones had an opportunity to spend more time with him. His smile will be greatly missed.
In 1972 Lun Yan gave up his business in Hong Kong, moved to Boston with his family. He was a great father and a great grandfather. He set high standard quality. He always demands the best from his children and grand kids. Lun Yan also has a strong will to do things his way. The family remembered one Summer he demanded to use his twenty foot long ladder to climb up to his house roof to look at the roof top and that was at the age of 70...and at another time, his dialysis ride was late for couple of minutes, so he decided to drive himself and that was after just a week from his fracture hip surgery. When Lun Yan was at the age of 88, it wasn't safe for him to drive. The family had to steal his car out of garage to prevent him driving, but a week later he brought himself another car! Father always enjoy his food, he would send us all over Chinatown and Quincy for his special dishes. You can not fool him, because he would know. Father was on dialysis for about 10 years, received great care from St. Elizabeth's Medical Center and South Suburban Dialysis. In June 2011 started to receive care at Brookline Health Care Center, there is no renal diet for him, because he required his own refrigerator and always stock with food enough to feed 4 other people. It was difficult for father to depart. He loved his children, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. On February 8, 2012, he was surrounded by his family, his hands were held by his daughters as he took his last breath peacefully. Lun Yan will be remembered by all family members for the wonderful times and joy he brought to their lives. He will be missed by all and forgotten by none.
