Bobby Lee Posey Sr.

Bobby Lee Posey Sr, age 82, passed away on 5 January 2026 while in Hospice care at St Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon IL while visiting his son Bobby L Posey Jr and his family for the Christmas Holidays.

Bobby was born in Raeford, North Carolina on January 10, 1943, to the late Claude Joseph and Mecie Mae Posey.

Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Peggy Posey and his brother Billy Posey.

Bobby graduated from Hoke County High School in Raeford North Carolina and enlisted in the North Carolina National Guard where he served for 18 years until he was medically retired.

Bobby worked at Burlington Industries in Raeford North Carolina for 40 years until he retired. He also worked as a County Inspector for Hoke County for 5 years.

He was a lifetime member of Philippi Presbyterian Church in Raeford North Carolina where he served as both an Elder and Deacon over the years. He also attended Dundarrach Community Church in Dundarrach North Carolina on Sunday Afternoons for the last several years. He was a member of Woodmen Life and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

He married the love of his life Peggy Jackson Posey on February 10, 1962, and they were happily married for 58 years until her death March 7, 2020.

Bobby is survived by his son Bobby Lee Posey Jr and his wife Donna of Belleville IL. His son James Kemp Posey of Autumn Care Raeford NC. His brother Butch Posey and wife Carrie Posey of Raeford North Carolina. Six grandchildren, Kyle Posey (wife Jessica) of Peru Indiana, Chelsea Posey of Belleville Illinois, Zach Posey of Belleville IL, Megan Bohl of Emerald Isle North Carolina, Sarah Posey of Raeford North Carolina and Seth Posey of Raeford North Carolina. Eight great grandchildren, Sopha Harris, Avery Harris and Luke Quirin of Belleville Illinois; Jossalyn Posey of Peru Indiana; Maggie Bohl, Terry Bohl III and Theodore Bohl of Emerald Ilse North Carolina and Ava Molchan of Fayetteville NC.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Philippi Presbyterian Church, 2800 Philippi Church Road, Raeford, NC 28376, with Pastor Dwight Jackson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Philippi Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
