

DATELINE: Red Springs Mr. D. Charles McNeill, age 71, of Red Springs died Monday, July 4, 2011 at his home. Mr. McNeill was born in Hoke County on August 28, 1939, to the late Walter Arthur McNeill and Ethel Harriet McEachin McNeill. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Arthur McNeill and his sister, Patricia McNeill Lewis. Mr. McNeill graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at St. Andrews Presbyterian College and then graduated with a masters degree in Public School Administration at Appalachian State University. For many years he served as Assistant Principal at Lewis Chapel Jr. High School in Fayetteville. Charles had a great love of old cars and was a member of the Fayetteville Regional Model A Club He was very interested in family history and genealogy. He also enjoyed all things old and unusual. His favorite place was the family farm where he was born, and his final wish was to be at home. Thanks to numerous people on a very short notice, this wish was granted. The family would like to thank the staff of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Community Hospice, Dr. Marcus Lowry and a very special thank you to Dr. Michael Pritchett and his fiancee Gerrian Daniels for making his final days as peaceful as possible. He is survived by his sister, Mary Rose McNeill Marshall of Statesville, NC; Three nieces, Tricia Knox and her husband Dennis, Bambi Kennerly and her husband Doug, Mary Oldham and her husband Scott; Two nephews, Paul Lewis II and his fiancee Susan Miller and Max Marshall. Charles is also survived by many cousins as well as 7 great nieces and nephews. Special life long friends, Earl and Martha Edwards. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 East 4th Ave. Red Springs, NC A Graveside Memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the McEachin/ McArthur Family Cemetery, 5154 Preston Road, Maxton with Reverend Michael McGehee officiating.
