Frances Cook Sumner

Mrs. Frances C. Sumner of 297 Sumner Lane, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 72. Mrs. Sumner was born in Alamance County on December 28, 1938 to the late Hubert Vance Cook and Nettie Horner Cook. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Frances Sumner. Mrs. Sumner was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey L. Sumner of Raeford; two sons, Barry L. Sumner of Burlington, and Jeffrey Todd Sumner (Maria) of Southern Pines; two daughters, Melissa S. Williams of Aberdeen and Heather S. Cummings (Keith) of Charlotte; one brother, Thomas F. Cook (Mary) of Graham; one sister, Magaline Knowles (Floyd) of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Trey, Paige, Jeffrey, Jacob, also Garrett and Hannah and their mother, Parker. Visitation was held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A. M., Friday, June 3, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park, 4039 South Church Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
