Mr. Horace Mitchell Hayes of Raeford died Monday, May 30, 2016 in Open Arms Retirement Center at the age of 72. Mr. Hayes was born in Robeson County on January 31, 1944 to the late Albert and Veda Britt Hayes. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Vernell and Jessie. Mr. Hayes proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the County of Hoke. He is survived by his wife, Gail Nixon Hayes of Raeford; his sons, Heath M. Hayes of Raeford, Garrett J. Hayes of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Greyson Hayes and Hayden Hayes. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2016 between the hours of 7:00 pm and 9 pm at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Shirley officiating. Inurnment will be in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
