Nellie McRae Obituary "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness; which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day. And not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8 Mrs. Nellie McRae was born on September 19, 1933, in Raeford North Carolina, to the proud parents of late Reverend Sylvester and Annie Mae Melvin. For those who leave us for a while, have only gone away; out of the restless, care-worn world, into a brighter day. On the evening of Saturday, August 20,2016, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, God in His infinite wisdom, quietly and gently whispered to Valerie that it was time for her to take her well-deserved rest. Mother McRae as she was affectionately called, was blessed to be born and reared in a Christian environment at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior at an early age. She was a humble, unassuming woman with a quiet demeanor. She was extremely friendly and welcomed everyone she met with open arms. Her presence made one feel at ease as she conveyed her thoughts openly with a passion and love. She was employed by Burlington Industries for 26 years of employment. Mother McRae was diligent in her work at the church. She was a member of pastor aid committee and the inspirational choir. Her great humanity and capacity to help others made her a mother to the motherless, friend to many in the community caring the burdens of that she loved. Many also knew her as a prayer warrior and was called upon frequently by others to pray for special events and occasions. Along her lifes journey, she met and married the love of her life, Deacon John Dee McRae Sr. They shared a relationship that included a life of marital bliss. She so enjoyed their time together. They always sat as a couple on Sunday morning during church services. Those left to cherish her memory and wait the return of the Lord to be reunited with her are: her loving and devoted husband, Deacon John Dee McRae One daughter Annie Lois McRae of the home, two sons John D McRae Jr. (Denise) Deacon Sylvester McRae ( Melinda) her lovely grand children Cametra Parter, Tyneisha (David), Lakeisha McRae, Christopher Byrd ( Porsche), Jermy McRae, April Wilson, Damias Byrd, Damien White, Anilya McRae, Antasia Whitty ( McNeill) Walt Morris, Andreews Bentinck fifteen great grand children one sister Dorothy ( Johnny) McLaughlin four sister in laws Larene McRae, Lula Peterson, Patricia Melvin, and Marie Melvin three brother in laws Ervin ( Vickie) McRae , Harvey McRae and Charles (Annie) McMillan and a host of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends I loved you with all my heart.
