Richard married his teenage sweetheart, Rosa Lee Guin Edwards, on August 16, 1969. Together they shared more than five decades of marriage and built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.
He worked for J. P. Stevens & Co. and Gulistan Carpets for 19 years. Later, he built, owned, and operated R&R Food Mart on Highway 211 near the Antioch community for 15 years. Through the years, Richard became known not only as a businessman, but also as a steady friend, a helping hand, and someone always willing to share advice when needed.
Richard enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping, fishing, and working in his yard, where he took great pride in planting flowers and shrubs. He was also a fan of National Hot Rod Association drag racing, local organized drag racing, and car shows. He appreciated hard work, good conversation, and the everyday moments that made life meaningful.
Above all, Richard cherished his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his later years, and he considered them his greatest blessing and legacy. They brought him immense pride and happiness throughout his life.
