Roy Lee Tompkins

Mr. Roy Lee Tompkins, 82 of 2802 Chason Rd. Parkton, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Moore Regional Hospital. Roy was born November 20, 1933, in Mint Hill, NC to Cary F. and Beulah J. Tompkins. He married Deodes 'Dee' Wilson on June 23, 1951. He served in the US Army Special Forces for 20 years serving as a medic in the Vietnam War. After his military retirement, he was a hunting dog breeder and farmer. He is survived by his four sons and one daughter, Roy Lee Tompkins, 'Jr.', and wife Joy of Raeford, Darrell Tompkins and wife Vicki of Buckingham, VA, Doug Tompkins and wife Jennifer of Linden, Kathryn Tompkins of Asheboro, and Mark Tompkins of Patterson, NC; grandchildren, Taylor Tompkins, Jacob Tompkins, Chloe Tompkins, Katelyn Trejo, and Richie Wilkinson; four great grandchildren; two sisters; and his special friend, Barbara Smith of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 41 years, and his grandson, Zachary Wilkinson. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford with burial in Parkton Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will follow the interment at the home on Chason Rd.
