

Addie Lee Rideout, 99, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on October 7, 2011. She was born December 4, 1911, in Pitt County, North Carolina to her parents, the late W. S. Cox and Rosa Lee Cox.
Addie was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Raleigh and served as church secretary for 25 years. She was also a charter member of the Oakwood Garden Club. She received the City of Raleigh Award and the Governor’s Award for her community service. Addie Lee and her husband, P.T., enjoyed traveling around the world; especially enjoying Hawaii, Jerusalem and The Holy Land. They were a loving and devoted couple for over 64 years. Above all, she had great faith and a tremendous love for her family.
She is survived by her son, P.T. Rideout, Jr., grandson, Scott Rideout and wife Dana, granddaughter, Melissa Renken, and her great-grandsons Dylan, Colin, Cooper and Carson. She will also be missed by her sister, Lillian Flood, niece Lottie Locke, and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband P.T. Rideout Sr., three brothers, and two sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 10 at Temple Baptist Church, 1417 Clifton St., Raleigh, NC. The family will receive one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Addie Lee Rideout’s name to Raleigh Rescue Mission, 314 E. Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC 27601, or to the Oakwood Garden Club, Raleigh, NC.
