

Alice was born October 15, 1951 in Bethesda, MD to the late George Leroy and Ida Rowe Parker. She was a native of Washington, DC; a graduate of Falls Church High School, UNC Greensboro, and NC State. Alice was employed as an instructor of textile design for UNC Greensboro, Meredith College, NC State University, the Art Institute of Durham and also worked at Nordstrom as a fashion consultant.
Alice was an avid fiber artist and seamstress who shared her craft with friends and family. She also treasured her beloved dog companion Lucy.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Ida and Leroy, and her brother Michael.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Donald John Gurley; daughter Devin Gurley of Seattle, daughter Breanne Gurley Hatcher husband, Kevin, and grandchildren Avery and Grayson of Crownsville, MD.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend she will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 20th, 1pm at Fairfax Memorial Park 4401 Burke Station Road, Fairfax, Virginia. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Brion's Grille 10621 Braddock Road, Fairfax.
In lieu of flowers we have set up a memorial donation fund online for dad's medical expenses because we have had a few family members ask. Alice also had a true love for animals so another option in lieu of flowers would be to donate to the ASPCA.
