

Barbara was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church of Henderson. She served on many committees and in several offices at the church, as well as having taught Sunday school. Barbara was also a member of the Exchange Club of Henderson, Eastern Star of Henderson and Oxford, the Red Hat Society, the Tea Society, Genealogy Society. She has been a member of the Friends of the library for H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library of Henderson, helping with the annual book sales over the years. She volunteered at the Senior Center to deliver Meals on Wheels. Barbara loved her family very much and considered her nieces and nephews to be her children and their children as her grandchildren. She was a lover of animals and took in strays to give them a home.
She was predeceased by her husband Jesse J. Capps and brothers, John C. Edwards and George C. Edwards and a great nephew Paul Thomas Elliott.
Barbara is survived by her sister Evelyn E Alberg of Raleigh, sister-in-law Janie L. Edwards, nephews: Jarles Alberg and wife Joni Alberg of Raleigh, George Michael Edwards of Henderson, Wayne Moody of Georgia, and Robert Moody of Texas;
Nieces Sandra A Zaslow and husband Steve Zaslow of Raleigh, Loraine E Elliott of Henderson, Linda E Krupp and husband Michael Krupp of Titusville, FL, Susan E Fuentes and husband Paul Fuentes of Swannanoa, NC, Linda Stegall of Charlotte, Diane Guthrie of Maryland, Nancy Short and husband Ronald Short of Henderson and Pam Wuichet of Georgia; great nephews : Christopher Edwards of Henderson and Alec Fuentes of Pinehurst; great nieces: Janette Johnson and husband JJ Johnson of Henderson, Jenny Evans and husband Sidney Evans of Henderson, and Loren Mercer of Georgia; great-great nephews -:Brian Elliott of Kansas, Andy Johnson of Henderson, and Ben Johnson of Henderson; great-great nieces: Renee Baldwin and husband Jimmy Baldwin of Virginia, Melissa Elliott of Virginia, Janie Evans of Henderson and LIzzie Evans of Henderson.
Memorial services will be held at Flat Rock United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 25th at 11 am. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Youth Scholarship Fund, Flat Rock United Methodist Church, 2560 Satterwhite Point Road Henderson, NC 27537.
