Betsy was born in Winston-Salem on October 27, 1930 to the late Alta Debnam and Bennette Baucom Pool. She attended Reynolds High School and Duke University. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, her church, volunteering, rooting for the Blue Devils, traveling with her husband, and cooking for her family who were always made to feel as though they were the most important part of her life.
Affectionately known as Boppy by her nine grandchildren, her home was the setting of many happy holidays both large and small. Every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas her children and grandchildren gathered there for delicious meals, stories and lots of laughter. Her gentle and sweet nature made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She had a beautiful smile and never made an unkind comment about anyone. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her giggle, her honesty, the selfless and gracious manner in which she conducted herself, and her loving devotion to her family.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was pre-deceased by the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Buford Terrill Henderson, II (B.T.). She is survived by her sister, Martha Anne Page of Staunton, Virginia; children, Anne M. Henderson, Bettie H. Goodwin, B. Terry Henderson and his wife, Margaret, and Nancy H.
